CEO Announcement: Our Latest REWE Store Is Trigo’s Most Ambitious Project Yet
I am very happy to announce the opening of REWE’s fourth Trigo-powered hybrid autonomous store in the central Sülz neighborhood of Cologne, Germany. It is our second joint store in Cologne and our most ambitious project to date. At nearly 600 square meters, this is the largest Trigo-powered smart store It features a diverse product line, with around 13,000 stock keeping units (SKU’s).
REWE’s and Trigo’s strong collaboration, the earned joint experience, and the trust cultivated between our teams have made it possible to embark on this ambitious project. Despite the sheer scale of it, it was one of our fastest-installed stores to date. We had a unique opportunity here. As the store was marked for renovation, our teams were able to take an active part in the redesign of REWE’s store of the future. Located near REWE’s headquarters and outfitted with the infrastructure to support future product roadmap, it is well-positioned to help push retail innovation further.
Size does matter. It is the size and product diversity of supermarkets and hypermarkets that intensify the challenge of transforming them into fully autonomous stores. In a sea of innovative retail approaches, computer vision is the only technology successfully proven to support large-scale store automation and provide the tech infrastructure and rich data to go beyond frictionless checkout and digitize the entire store operation. Trigo is the only tech partner to focus on the supermarket and hypermarket formats and lead the market in terms of accuracy and speed. This is a meaningful milestone for Trigo, as we continue to tackle the big store barrier with the partnership of forward-thinking retailers such as REWE. Already capable of deploying 1,500 square meter stores, we are planning to open a 2,500 square meter store by the end of the year.
